This year, as many as 77 English beaches received the „Blue Flag” award, given to the cleanest beaches in the world. Are any of them in your area?
Awarded by the Foundation for Environmental Education, the Blue Flag award is widely considered the highest standard for beaches and is recognized around the world. It recognizes beaches for „meeting the highest environmental standards” and „international bathing water quality standards.” This year’s list includes a total of 77 beaches across England.
Most people are aware that Blue Flag certification guarantees water quality, but it is only one of many criteria. The Blue Flag criteria are divided into four categories, with a total of 33 factors taken into account.
The main factors include: Environmental information and education, water quality, environmental management, services and safety.
